Two of Britain’s leading biographers discuss the art of writing lives. Ray Monk, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southampton, has written acclaimed biographies of Ludwig Wittgenstein and Bertrand Russell, and his most recent book is Inside The Centre: The Life of J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cape). Hermione Lee is President of Wolfson College, Oxford, and her subjects have included Virginia Woolf, Edith Wharton and Willa Cather. She is also the author of Body Parts: Essays on Life-Writing (Pimlico) and Biography: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford).
